Mathias Baresel
aka Ted Brasko is a Berlin-based composer, director, and performer who creates emotionally rich and well-structured works in music and theatre. He works intuitively but also values craft, bringing a strong sense of dramaturgy to everything he does. His work is driven by the belief that emotions should take center stage—not just as themes, but as the very substance of artistic experience.
With a rare ability to both compose and perform his music while maintaining a strong sense of storytelling, he weaves narratives that captivate and move. His artistic signature lies in his ability to balance depth, beauty, and humor—capturing the profound without losing lightness.
He is a co-founder of the German-Czech-Russian object theatre collective KHWOSHCH, with which he created the acclaimed puppet theatre piece Dinopera. The production has toured extensively across Europe, with performances at renowned venues such as the Prague National Opera and festivals like At.tension. In 2024, he was part of the collective that won the NOperas! grant, leading to the creation of Oper Otze Axt, where he served as both composer and performer of the main role.
As a musician, he performs solo as TED BRASKO and as the singer of BOH VAJEC ORCHESTRA, both of which blend theatricality and sonic experimentation.
